Registered Court Interpreters

Maintenance of Registration Requirements

IMPORTANT NOTES FROM PROGRAM STAFF:

  • Continuing Interpreter Education:  Please be observant of the types of CIE courses taken each compliance period.  No more than 25 percent (4 CIE credits) of the required CIE credits may be satisfied through self-study activities.  Some providers offer CIE activities as both scheduled instructor-led courses and on-demand self-study courses.  If the instructor-led version of an activity is approved, this does NOT automatically denote that the self-study version of the activity has been approved for CIE credit and vice-versa.
  • Law-Related Professional Interpreting Assignments:  Assignments listed on the Law-Related Professional Interpreting Assignments Reporting Form MUST include the correct case number and location to be authenticated by program staff.  The Location of Assignment field should detail the court of jurisdiction for the case number provided (County, Circuit, District, or Federal court).  Reporting Forms that denote the Location of Assignment as Zoom, Remote, Virtual, or similar verbiage will be returned to the interpreter for clarification.
